Maybe christ was a socialist politician. Feeding all the Nanny Christ Adherents with government social programs. Meanwhile he burned a few bridges connected to influential relationship with ties to the pork programs that were sending the redistribution funds into his district. No longer able to feed the multitudes he is voted out by recall elections.
Also the fact he was trying to educate the commoners on how to become independent individuals not reliant on government subsidies. This didn't sit well with career politician and thus they worried about not being needed to feed the gullible therefore.
